Now that I share an office with many others, I'm much more aware of, and embarrassed by, my chronic singultus.
Mine are more like Hulp! than Hic!, and about 10 decibels louder.

Man Without a Face
People I meet often think they know me. After introductions, I see them conferring with spouses, glancing my way. Then: "Jon - is it? - We swear we recognize you from somewhere. Do you know Glen _____? Did you live in C______?"
I haven't yet decided - is my face is so nondescript, such an empty vessel, that people, looking for distinguishing features, give up, and subconsciously search their memory for likenesses? Or do I perhaps have a single feature or combination of features - small eyes or/and mouth brackets, for instance - that rings bells with onlookers? Ideally (or perhaps to temper my disappointment that rarely do people actually recognize me) I hope it's because some positive aspect, like my disarmingly direct eye contact or my unusually friendly countenance, triggers some deeper connection that gets mistaken for physical likeness. Ha.

Pakistan tennis federation asks Qureshi to end Israeli pairing
Muslims and Jews playing tennis together? Unthinkable. Good to see sports transcending politics.
